Doris Mae McQuiston Griffin
Doris passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the age of 94. She was a homemaker, resident and native of Plaquemine, La. Visiting will be at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 5 to 9pm and at Bayou Plaquemine Baptist Church on Thursday, March 10, 2016 from 9am until religious services at 11am, conducted by Brother Merlein McCon. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine. She is survived by her son, Sanford DeJean and wife Elizabeth "Liz" of Denham Springs; very special niece, Peggy McQuiston Paredes and husband Carlos; grandchildren, Jeanné DeJean, Miche'l DeJean and wife Amanda, Huey DeJean and wife Miranda, and Kelly Daigle; step grandchildren, Travis Cook, and Troy Cook and wife Lynna; great grandchildren, Kayla Varndo, Ashley Armstrong, Chase, Gage and Ryder DeJean, Logan, Rylan and Nate Green; brothers, Lawrence McQuiston and wife Sharon of Denham Springs, James Odgar Wunstel of Baton Rouge, and Dr. Samuel McQuiston, Jr. and partner Sam. Preceded in death by her first husband of 34 years, Albert DeJean; second husband of 22 years, Frank Griffin; son, Gerald DeJean and wife Nettie; mother and step father, Ermine Felps and O.B. Wunstel; father, Samuel A. McQuiston, Sr.; and brother, Huey Wunstel. Doris was very active in many Baptist Churches including Port Allen Baptist Church, Addis Baptist Church and her beloved Bayou Plaquemine Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, WMU Director who trained leaders, WMU Associate Director and Acteen leader. During her ministry she touched many lives and her memory will live on forever. Special thanks to Dr. Duemite, Dr. Jay Brooks, Modern Hospice and the staff at La Maison for their loving care.
