Darius Euel McCuiston, Sr., 90, of Dayton, TN, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 in his home.
Darius was born in Dayton on November 5, 1922 to the late George Newton McCuiston and Caroline (Youther) McCuiston; and was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, George, Sheloma, Alma, Thomas, Bertha, Alvin, Calie, Bessie, John, Miles, Clarence, Caleb and Theodore.
Darius retired from the US Army after serving during WWII, the Korean War and the Viet Nam War. During WWII he served in the European Theatre where he received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Pearl (Tennyson) McCuiston of Dayton; four sons, Robert McCuiston, Jerry (Jennifer) McCuiston and Tony (Debby) McCuiston all of Dayton and Darius (LuAnn) McCuiston, Jr. of Soddy; daughter, Sue (Roger) Moore of Graysville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A family graveside service with full military honors will be held Tuesday, November 20 with burial following in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Monday, November 19 from 5-7 p.m.
