Bruce began his final rest on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, before his 85th birthday at Faith Regional Health Services, following a siege of pneumonia.
He was born to Rollie and Gladys McQuistan at Bloomfield on May 1, 1926, where he started country school in 1930. Soon after that they moved to the Crofton community, where he received his high school education. He served in the Army the next two years in the Philippine Islands and later in Japan.

He ran the Bloomfield elevator for a number of years until he was permanently injured in a fall in 1970. From then until retirement, he had an interest in farming and trucking grain. He sold used cars for a few years until his bout with cancer in 1992.
He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Masons and the American Legion. He enjoyed reading, music and dancing, traveling and going to car shows.
He married Jan Carmichael of Columbus in April 1981. He was a true gentleman with a unique sense of humor and will be remembered for his acceptance of people.
