Edwin McQuiston, 90, of New Castle passed away the morning of Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Ed was born on Oct. 6, 1927, in New Castle, to the late William and Pearl McQuiston.
Mr. McQuiston was a graduate of New Castle High School and was the founder of McQuiston Coal Co.
On June 15, 1950, he married the former Nancy L. Klee. She preceded him in passing on Nov. 27, 2004.
Mr. McQuiston served his country as a member of the Army Air Corp.
Ed loved golfing, fishing, hunting and boating. He was a devoted and loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Mr. McQuiston was an accomplished pilot and enjoyed flying his Cessna. Ed also had a passion for the Indianapolis 500.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol McQuiston-Shirey of New Castle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin K. and Marleen McQuiston of New Castle and Matt and Melissa McQuiston of Bessemer; three grandchildren, Edwin McQuiston and his wife, Heather, Shannon Pelitier and her husband, Josh, and Kelsey Lancia and her husband, Michael; and four great-grandchildren, Gracie, Matthew, Noah and Charlotte.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. McQuiston was preceded in passing by two brothers, Robert and Phillip McQuiston; and his sister, Lynn Carol.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., New Castle.
Funeral services will immediately follow visitation at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Castle View Memorial Gardens.
