Ellen Irene McQuiston, 68, of Scrubgrass Township, Venango County, passed away Thursday at the Grove City Medical Center after an extended illness.
Born Oct. 28, 1943, in Clay Township, she was the daughter of Lewis L. Grossman and Dorothy E. McCandless Grossman.
Ellen graduated from Moniteau High School in 1961.
Ellen married David E. McQuiston on May 31, 1975, in Slippery Rock and he passed away June 28, 1998.
She was last employed at the Silver Fox Inn in Foxburg as a chef assistant. Ellen enjoyed gardening, reading and baking. Ellen attended the East Unity Church when her health permitted.
She is survived by her four children, William "Mace" Morris of Slippery Rock, Machelle "Shelly" Gardner of Emlenton, Ronald L. McQuiston of Emlenton and Brian D. McQuiston and his wife, Lisa, of Kossuth; seven grandchildren, Grady and Sarah Morris of Slippery Rock, Emily Gardner of Parker, Erica Jack and her husband, Chad, of Emlenton and Kelly, Kyle and Kari McQuiston of Kossuth; nine sisters, Sarah Brown of Butler, Wanda Brown and her husband, Bob, of Butler, Nancy Ferguson and her husband, Roland, of West Sunbury, Donna Hoover and her husband, Gil, of Slippery Rock, Cindy Marshall and her husband, Richard, of West Sunbury, Terri Riddle and her husband, Barry, of Clintonville, Connie Reeder of Slippery Rock, JoAnn Surrena of Grove City, and Pearl Schlatz and her husband, Richard, of Butler; five brothers, Joe Grossman and his wife, Valerie, of Slippery Rock, Rick Grossman and his wife, Marsha, of Slippery Rock, Ron Grossman and his wife, Carol, of Slippery Rock, Sim Grossman and his wife, Beth, of West Sunbury and John Grossman and wife, Bonnie, of Slippery Rock.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three brothers, Bucky, Sonny and Lonny Grossman.
McQuiston - The family of Ellen Irene McQuiston, who passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012, had a memorial service at 11 a.m. today at the East Unity Church with the Rev. Kenneth Hughes of New Covenant Charge officiating and the Rev. Richard Marshall of West Unity Church.
The Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
