She was born January 30, 1928, in Booneville to Robert Roscoe Bane and Madgeline Smith Bane. She was a retired teacher’s aide. She was a devoted wife and the best mother and mother-in-law anyone could ever hope for. She was dearly loved by her family and friends and never met a stranger. She loved growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. Visitation will be at 1:30pm on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at McMillen Funeral Home and a Celebration of life beginning at 3:30pm Saturday with Bro. Josh Westmorland officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery. She is survived by her only child, William Beebe McCuiston, and her daughter-in-law, Lani McCuiston, of Gainesville, FL. 2458 | Warnock, Roberta 7/26/1932 - 7/12/2018 Richland Roberta Lou Warnock of Richland, Michigan passed away peacefully on July 12 at age 85 after a brief stay at Rose Arbor Hospice. She was born July 26, 1932, on her family farm in Converse, Indiana. She attended Purdue University and earned a bachelor's degree in Education and later a master's degree in Biology. She began her teaching career at Portage Central Schools and taught Junior High math and science and High School biology for the next 26 years. She retired from teaching in 1993. She was active at First Presbyterian Church in Kalamazoo, MI where she has been an active member for the last 35 years serving as Congregational Deacon and Joint Deacon. She taught High School Bible class, volunteered at Loaves and Fishes, Rickman house, and worked in the Free Medical Clinic for 9 years. She is remembered for her love of family and by her strength and positive attitude about life. She loved visits from the grandchildren and was interested in all they were involved in including sports, dance, education, and careers. She loved walks in the woods and could identify all flora and fauna. She was an avid sports fan, especially baseball - the Tigers and Cubs. She loved to travel and learning about other places and people. She enjoyed vacations with her brother at the Jersey Shore and with family at Lake Michigan. Roberta was married for 29 years to Thomas R. Pyke (deceased), who is the father of her children. She is survived by son Neil (Patricia) Pyke, Daughters Lynn (Jim) DeWitt, Ann (Todd) Mora. Grandchildren Lauryn Pyke (Chad Barker), Kori Pyke, Tara DeWitt (Dario Diovisalvi), Scott (Lisa) Vander Meulen, Taylor Vander Meulen, Riley Dewitt, Celeste Mora (Eddie Rios), Spenser Mora, Dillon Mora and great-grandchildren Cayden and Danika Barker and Fox DeWitt Diovisalvi. She is also survived by her brother Verlin Warnock and nieces Elaine Major and Ginny (Chuck) Quick. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 321 W. South Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan. The memorial service will begin at 11 am with a lunch to follow. 2465 | Wayne R. McElfresh, 88, Kokomo, passed away Monday, Oct. 5, 2020. He was born Oct. 13, 1931, in Howard County, Kokomo, the son of the late Mark E. and Mary L. (Cottingham) McElfresh. On June 22, 1952, at Main Street United Methodist Church in Kokomo, he married Mary Rosalene Shaffer, who preceded him in death on July 22, 2014. Wayne was a 1949 graduate of Kokomo High School. He served with the United States Army Reserve. Wayne began his career working for J.C. Penny's, and Golightly's. He went on to own and operate the Mary-Mac Shop. He also worked for 20th Century Publications, offering photography for weddings and church directories. Wayne retired as the marketing associate for Wesley Manor in Frankfort. Wayne was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and the Builders Sunday School Class. In his work in the Methodist church, he served as chairperson of the Administration Board, the Pastor and Parish Committee, and served as the lay delegate to the National Conference. He was an active member of Kiwanis, where he served as president, lieutenant governor and several state committee chairmanships. Wayne also served as president of the Kokomo Downtown Merchants Association, and chairperson of the Maplecrest Merchants Association. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, attending Kokomo High School athletic events. He especially enjoyed attending his grandsons' sporting events. Wayne also enjoyed Kokomo Community Concerts, and working the word scramble from the newspaper with a little help from his family. Wayne is survived by his daughter, Polly A. (Peter) Amundson; grandchildren, Joseph (Anne) McElfresh, Austin Amundson and Blake Amundson; great grandson, Emmett McElfresh; brother, Carl McElfresh and his significant other, Chris Ehman; and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd McElfresh; an infant son; brother, Leland (Velma) McElfresh; brother-in-law, Bobby (Helen) Shaffer. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2020, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 700 Southway Blvd. E., Kokomo, with Pastor Scott Pattison officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 W. Lincoln Road, Kokomo. 2471 | William "Billy" Stanley Mccuiston, 73 years old, passed away May 17 in Flat Rock, NC. Billy was the son of William Lewis Mccuiston and stepson of Quindora Jan Mccuiston, grandson of Francis E. Lewis. He is survived by brothers, Frederick "Mark" Mccuiston, James "Jim" Griffin, and two stepsisters, Lana Johnson and Jan Martin, as well as three nephews, Chris Griffin, Joshua Griffin and Alex Griffin, and niece, Ashley Hall, among other extended family members. Billy lived a good and happy life with exception to the last two years when complications from a concussion led to a short coma and then finally dementia set in and system failure finally took its toll. He was very much loved and will be missed dearly. Heaven has a Gold member now. Services will be held June 18 at Covenant Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. The church is located at 2101 Kanuga Rd., Hendersonville, NC 28739. He retired in 1993 from General Motors where he worked as a die setter and formerly worked as a brakeman for Norfolk and Western Railroad, Peru. William enjoyed woodworking, landscaping and remodeling homes. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt.
