Obituary for Mr. E. Stewart Hackney

E. Stewart Hackney, age 96 of Hendersonville, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at NHC Hendersonville.

Mr. Hackney was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army.

Stewart was a retired Comptroller/Treasurer from Tennessee Central Railway and Matlock Trucking Company.

He was a devoted Christian and long-time member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.

Stewart was preceded in death by his parents, E.W. Hackney and Ruby Phipps Hackney, as well as his beloved wife of 72 years, Sue (Murcille) Hackney.

Stewart is survived by son, Richard (Melinda) Hackney; daughter, Judy Conner; grandchildren, Kristy (Bobby) Breeden; Stacy (Patsy) Conner; Jennifer Slayden; Brett (Drew) Slayden; Ashley (Corey) Beidler and Christian Conner; great-grandchildren, Jordan Canfield; Shade Conner; Kaylie Conner; Corbin Beidler; Adalyn Slayden and Lochlan Slayden; great-great grandchildren, Everett Williams and Carson Williams.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, no services will be held. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date, not yet determined.

Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.

Obituary for Mrs. Sue Murcille Hackney

Sue Murcille Hackney, age 93, of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019. Murcille was born on February 13, 1926 in Paris, Tennessee to the late Herschel Doan McCuiston and Flora Ellen Barfield.

Murcille graduated from Grove High School in Paris, TN and later graduated from Draughon’s Business College in Nashville. She was a retired secretary and court reporter. Murcille was a devoted Christian and member of First Baptist Church of Hendersonville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Curtis Hayden McCuiston and son-in-law Cleon N. Conner.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, E. Stewart Hackney; daughter Judy Conner; son Richard (Melinda) Hackney; grandchildren Kristy (Bobby) Breeden, Stacy (Patsy) Conner, Jennifer Slayden, Brett (Drew) Slayden, Ashley (Corey) Beidler, and Christian Conner; great-grandchildren Jordan Canfield, Shade Conner, Kaylie Conner, Corbin Beidler, Adalyn Slayden, and Lochlan Slayden.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 10 AM until 12 PM Noon at Spring Hill Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12 PM Noon with Pastor Richard Gaia officiating. Entombment will follow in the Historic Spring Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made in Murcille’s name to First Baptist Church of Hendersonville 106 Bluegrass Commons Blvd, Hendersonville, TN 37075.
