1042. Dr. Lorenzo Payton McCuistion1390,1393 was born on 18 December 1869 in Lamar County, Texas. He was educated M.D. in 1889 in Kentucky School of Medicine, Bowling Green, Kentucky. He died on 16 July 1947 at the age of 77 in Paris, Texas.234,1394 On hearing of Dr. Lorenzo McCuistion's death, all drug stores in town [Paris] closed for the funeral hour. Lorenzo was buried after 16 July 1947 in Evergreen Cemetery, Paris, Lamar County, Texas.234 He was also known as Pate.234 He was a Physician and Surgeon in Paris, Texas.1394 He was a member of the Lamar County, Texas and American Medical Associations and a fellow of the American college of Surgeons. He was one of the founders of the Sanitarium of Paris, and was Chief of Staff since its establishment in 1914.
In 1912, Dr. L. P. McCuistion gathered a group of community leaders together to establish a community-based hospital. Through his efforts, the Sanitarium of Paris opened Easter Sunday 1914. The McCuistion Regional Medical Center is now a referral center serving over 180,000 residents. A 210-bed facility, serves as the regional maternity center.

Dr. McCuistion opened his first office on South Main Street in Paris. He occupied one in the old Greiner-Kelly Drug Store, this firm eventually became the Southwestern Drug Company, Dallas, in which Dr. McCuistion was a stockholder and director until his death.

Dr. Lorenzo Payton McCuistion and Allie Hicks were married on 7 January 1897 in Paris, Texas.237 Allie Hicks was born on 12 October 1872. She died on 19 March 1931 at the age of 58.234 Allie is buried next to Lorenzo Peyton McCuistion. She was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Paris, Lamar County, Texas.234
