He was educated PhD in Philosophy in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.1017 Fred was awarded his master's and doctor of Philosophy degrees from George Peabody college at Nashville, Tennessee. He later did graduate work at Columbia University, Harvard University, Yale University and the University of London. He was awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree by Hendrix College. He died on 13 March 1969 at the age of 76 in Prairie Grove, Washington County, Arkansas.1017 He was buried in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Prairie Grove, Washington County, Arkansas.1017,1892 Services were conducted in the United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Harvey Hazelwood officiating.
