719. Martin Luther McCuiston1130 was born on 6 June 1839 in Humidity, Calloway County, Kentucky.1131,1132 Martin Luther was born in Humidity, Kentucky; this town was renamed New Concord, Kentucky. He appeared in the census on 31 July 1850 in District 1, Calloway County, Kentucky.1124 He served in the military with the Confederate Army's, 5th TN Volunteer Inf., Co. A. at Union City, TN. Civil War.176,1130 He was severely wounded by a badly broken and mangled arm. It was not set properly, and the hand drew up into a claw, because of tendon damage. He remained with the unit though in the hospital for two more months, until sent home on a medical discharge; being deemed unfit for further service. He was discharged on June 12, 1862 at Tupelo, MS with the surgeon stating he had been a faithful member of the regiment since his enlistment.
He applied for and was granted a Confederate pension in 1912. The first installment of his pension arrived Christmas after his death.
Isabelle reapplied for her widow's pension and received it until her own death on February 1936, the day after what would have been her 72nd wedding anniversary to Martin.
