"During Chief Isley's administration, two Greensboro Officers died in the line of duty.
On May 4, 1921, Officer William T. McCuiston and his partner, John Oakes received information on a gang of whiskey runners. McCuiston, who was off-duty, and Oakes lay in wait for the bootleggers near Washington and Forbis (now Church) Streets. When the whiskey laden vehicle approached on Washington Street, Officer McCuiston hailed to the car. When it did not stop, he stepped onto its running board and ordered the driver to halt. Before McCuiston could take any further action, one of the three occupants fired a .38 caliber pistol point-blank into McCuiston's chest. Officer McCuiston died instantly." William was buried on 6 May 1921 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church Cemetery in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina.1955 He has reference number RM 2833. LBM 170-257

I, BESS MCCUISTON, of Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina, declare this to be my last will, and I hereby revoke all former wills made by me.
I hereby appoint my son, RALPH McCUISTON, as Executor of this my last will and testament.
I direct my Executor to pay all of my funeral expenses, together with all of my just debts, all expenses and costs of administering my estate, and likewise to pay out of the principal or corpus or accumulated income of my estate any and all inheritance, estate or succession taxes, duties or levies, federal or state, which may be properly and lawfully charged, assessed and levied against my estate or against any of the beneficiaries hereunder or against any interest of any beneficiary hereunder.
