861. William Henry McQuiston was born on 28 June 1840 in Washington Township, Allen County, Indiana.549 About 1865 he was a Bookkeeper in Auburn, Indiana.549 William was a bookkeeper with C. Orff and Company for six years. In 1871, he began his own business in Auburn, Indiana. In 1875 he was a Grocery Business in Auburn, Indiana.549 William became associated with I. N. Cool in the grocery business, carrying on dry goods and clothing by himself in a separate room. At the end of the year, Mr. Cool purchased his interest in grocery stock. In 1878 William was a Merchant in Auburn, Indiana.549 In 1878, William formed a partnership with G. C. Ralston, under the firm name of McQuiston and Ralston. In 1882, Mr. Long bought Mr Ralston's interest and the firm name was changed to McQuiston and Long. William bought Mr. Long's interest in April 1885, and carried a completed stock of everything in his line, having one of the best stores in Auburn. In 1885 he was a dealer in dry good, groceries and queensward in Auburn, Indiana.549 He died on 18 December 1910 at the age of 70 in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana.551 The Fort Wayne Sentinel, 19 December 1910:

William H. McQuiston, a life long resident of this city and Perry township, who was stricken with paralysis Saturday morning, died at 8 o'clock Sunday night at his home, 1724 Hench Street. Surviving relatives include two brothers, Allen F. McCuiston, 120 Wells Street, and Benjamin McQuiston, 1818 Spy Run Ave. and one sister, Miss Jane McQuiston, an invalid, who made her home with him. William has reference number (136-244). He member of De Kalb Lodge, No 214, F. & A. M. in Indiana.549

William Henry McQuiston and Malvina R. Mahurin were married on 12 October 1870.549 Malvina R. Mahurin was born on 12 June 1850 in Ohio. She died on 17 June 1902 at the age of 52 in Auburn, Indiana.
