86. John McQuiston was born on 9 August 1776 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. In 1800 he was a Shingler in Cincinnati, Ohio.182 John helped to shingle some of the first houses built in Cincinnati, although he lived in Venango County, Pennsylvania. He died on 4 April 1849 at the age of 72 in Venango County, Pennsylvania.3,183 He was shot and killed by an insane man named Scott. Scott thought John, then a constable, had a warrant for his (Scott's) arrest. John McQuiston did not have such a warrant. John McQuistion was buried on his farm opposite the McQuiston School House. The burying ground is now known as the McQuiston Cemetery. John has reference number 624(66-216).

John McQuiston and Nancy Harper were married on 4 May 1802 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Nancy Harper was born on 14 August 1784. She died on 27 June 1865 at the age of 80. Buried beside her husband, John McQuiston.
