467. Mary Jane McCuistion44 was born on 2 May 1855 in Robertson County, Texas.794 She died on 16 July 1943 at the age of 88 in Pampa, Texas. Mary Jane is buried in the family plot at Pampa, Texas. She has reference number RM 1264. GKM 2711/2708 - LBM 92iii-364 Mary Jane McCuistion was a strong character and a perfect lady throughout her long life. When a child, her step-mother's sister, Catherine McGuire, made Mary spin long hours--punishment was by cutting at her legs with bois d'arc switches. The scars were carried to Mary's grave at the age of 88. Brother Noah took Mary, aged 6, and two other children and moved to a cabin on the far side of Joshua McCuistion's land by a spring, never again to return to the father's house.

Mary Jane McCuistion and Anthony Purvis were married on 21 March 1872 in Robertson County, Texas. Anthony Purvis, son of John Purvis, died before 1943. He was born in Robertson County, Texas. He has reference number RM 1277.
