Between 1978 and 1981 he was a Historian in Washington, D. C.. Naval Historian at the Naval Historical Center, Washington, D.C. He died on 6 June 1996 at the age of 72 in Ingram, Kerr County, Texas. Had a massive heart attack, while driving to San Antonia Texas to pick up heart medications. Eleanor McCuistion, his second wife, was a passenger in the car, she was unhurt and survived her husband. The family lived at 1621 Woodlawn Ave in Royal Oak, Oakland County, Michigan in 1960 Betty Jeanne Bromley, daughter of James Albert Bromley and Gladys Gertrude Dafoe, was born on 30 January 1924 in Royal Oak, Oakland County, Michigan. She appeared in the census on 10 April 1930 in Royal Oak City, Oakland County, Michigan.3243 She graduated in June 1943 in Royal Oak, Oakland County, Michigan. Graduated from Royal Oak High School, Royal Oak, Michigan. Betty died on 7 August 1981 at the age of 57 in Falls Church, Fairfax County, Virgina.3244 Immediate cause of death was Septicemia due to Cancer of the Breast. She died approximately 4:00 am at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Virginia. She was cremated by Metropolitan Crematory, Alexandria, Virginia. The ashes are buried in Gatesville, Texas She was buried about 17 August 1981 at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Betty is buried at the home she and Ken McCuistion bought in Gateville, Texas. Ken felt this was fitting as it was to be their home for retirement, and Betty did not get to live there as she died before being able to move into the home.
